Origin of the Mountain Herbs

All herbs and substances used for the production of BERG cosmetics come from the South Tyrolean 'Südtiroler Kräutergold/Kräuterschlössl' company, which refrains `from` the use of chemical pesticides, copper, sulphur and artificial fertilizer. The growth of the plants is encouraged by focused cultivation (such as the weekly hoeing of the fields), intercropping, crop rotation and fertilising with compost. Most working stages of wilderness harvests, cultivation, harvest and refinement are done by hand.

Processing: in the drying process the harvested herbs are thinly laid out and carefully dehumidified. At a temperature of 30-35 degrees centigrade the dehumidifying machine reduces the moisture in the herbs. The drying process takes between 10 and 48 hours. Until further processing the herbs for BERG cosmetics are stored in large paper bags at the raw material warehouse. Some herbs are blended, leaves and stems are separated. For single herb fillings, teas and herbal mixes only the leaves are used. The hand picked herbs and blossoms are carefully mixed according to the recipe and deep frozen in a paper bag for at least 24 hours - to kill off insect eggs and larvae not visible to the eye. Only then will they be repacked for further processing at an authorised processing plant to be manufactured into BERG cosmetics.
