Visit to the MIVOR fruit farmers‘ cooperative in Latsch

MIVOR is one of South Tyrol’s largest fruit farmers‘ cooperatives. During the afternoon, you will learn many facts about the growing, watering and storage of this wonderful fruit. You then have the opportunity to visit one of Europe’s most modern sorting and storage facilities.

Apple Country South Tyrol

With its 18.400 hectares is the apple-growing area in South Tyrol the largest, continues in the EU. The area stretches along the 46th parallel and is approx. 100 km long, extending from Salurn in the Etschtal Valley (200 m above sea level) to Kortsch and Mals in the Vinschgau District (1.000 m above sea level). With approx. 8.000 family-run apple-growing companies, the structures here a small-scale. The average orchard size is 2.5 to 3 hectares. Fruits are grown on around 2.5 percent of South Tyrol’s entire area. The 1 million tons of apples annually harvested in South Tyrol are, depending on the year, 10 – 12% of the entire apple production in the EU!
